Our History

Martin Aldridge has worked in the food industry for as long as he can remember. He started his career as a Butcher’s Apprentice where he learned the art of sausage making. Then, in 1972, he became the Fresh Food Manager of a major supermarket before going on to open M&J Meats in 1980.
Martin and his wife Janet started Bridport Gourmet Pies in April 2000. Steak and Stilton, Steak and Kidney and Steak and Ale were three of the first batches of pies to be made and these pies are still a firm favourite with customers everywhere.
Today Bridport Gourmet Pies supply shops, cafes, pubs and restaurants all over the West of England with a variety of 44 different pies, that range in size from 8oz to one pound and the 2lb Family Pie.
